Community Farm Project in Ghana
Ghana
Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks

Description:
The over-reliance on crop farming tended to be an insufficient means of livelihood for the people of Yamah and as a result, there was severe hunger in the region. This prompted the immediate establishment of the NGO to show farmers in the district that they could obtain a more stable income and food security from livestock rearing rather than crop farming alone. Gradually, the emphasis has shifted from running a farm to engaging in more direct community education on a wider variety of topics including agriculture, health, sanitation, and income generating activities.
