Peru
- All Other Areas in Peru:
Trujillo
Durations of Program: 5-8 weeks, 9-12 weeks, 3-6 months, 7-12 months and 1-2 years
Typical Duration of Program: 3-6 months
Dates: 07 Jan 09 - 28 Feb 09
Description:
We are currently urgently seeking people to help with the Summer Scheme that is running from 12th January to 27th February 2009. Ideally we would like people to be able to commit to the whole scheme as this will give some continuity for the children and also ensure that we have enough volunteers for the duration of the scheme. We may consider shorter stays if people have specific skills and could run workshops for a few weeks. The timetable for the summer scheme is for children to do Spanish reading and writing and maths in the mornings, and then workshops in the afternoons. For the workshops we are looking for people with skills such as circus training, art; painting or sculpture and so on, music, drama, dance, acrobatics or martial arts...these are just some things we have thought of so please email if you can help with others.
Highlights:
We ask for a contribution of $250 (US) per month from volunteers who receive in return free accommodation and lunch. There is a gradual decrease in the fee for those staying longer than two months
Qualifications:
Because the children do not speak English, we are generally looking for people who are able to instruct in Spanish but there are a few places for those with a more basic Spanish ability. Of course if people wish to stay for longer after the summer scheme then this would be welcomed.
Cost in US$: $ 350. One third of the charity's income relies on contributions from volunteers.
Cost Include Description:
Accommodation Provided in Trujillo with other volunteers. Lunch is provided on work days.
