Description:
The successful candidate will work alongside the station's Spanish-speaking gardener on the 5-acre campus of the Amazon's most active research station. One garden contains a living exhibit of more than 100 species of medicinal, edible and ornamental plants; another provides fruit and vegetables to the station kitchen. The volunteer would be needed to work about five hours/day though there is no fixed work schedule.

Take this opportunity to live in the Amazon! Free time can be used to take advantage of the station's extensive trail system in the surrounding Amazon Rain Forest to conduct personal research or simply to enjoy the surrounding flora and fauna. Los Amigos is the most active biological research station in the Amazon. Come meet researchers from all over the world. Los Amigos is currently taking steps to become more sustainable. Help the station reach its goal by providing local sustainably-grown food. Wireless internet is freely available in the dining hall.
Qualifications:
The Amazon Conservation Association is seeking a motivated and innovative volunteer to work at the Los Amigos Biological Research Station, in the Amazon Rain Forest of Madre de Dios, Peru. ACA is a creative, hard-working, high-energy conservation group and we welcome volunteers with the same qualities. Our volunteer positions are highly competitive and typically won by candidates with specialized skills, relevant experience, good language skills, a significant time commitment, and independent funding. Cost Include Description:
Accommodations consist of a double room with a private bathroom (running water included), bed, wardrobe, and mosquito net. Price subsidies might be possible for extended stays and/or a highly experienced volunteer.
