Description:
Volunteers are always welcome at the farm, and can contribute as much or as little time as they want. No particular experience is necessary as there are many projects going on that require a multitude of skills. However people with specific experiance will be encouraged to use their knowledge and expertise to further the aims of the project. Recent volunteers have helped in many ways. They have dug swales and beds, helped develop a greywater system, harvested olives, built a cistern, and worked with us and our partners to implement permaculture initiatives in the community.
Highlights:
Opportunities range from helping out with current tasks and projects to designing and developing an initiative of your own.
Qualifications:
No particular qualifications are needed. There are many flexible and continually developing projects that allow people to make most of their individual enthusiasms, skills and expertise.
Cost in US$: Standard rates are 80 NIS per night for volunteers, including all meals. These rates decrease if you stay for 1 week to 500 NIS for the whole week, and right down to 1500 NIS per month if you stay that long.
Cost Include Description:
Individuals will be responsible for covering their own travel and living expenses. Volunteers are welcome to live on the farm, but because we are a very new project, funded almost solely through the revenues we can raise from our guest house, we encourage people to contribute financially as they can.

Bustan Qaraaqa's Mission Statement: Bustan Qaraaqa (the Tortoise Garden) is a brand new initiative in the Palestinian West Bank, promoting the use of permaculture design to protect and restore the degrading environment, and restore dignity and self reliance to people living under the daily grind of ongoing military occupation. Working closely with our neighbours, we are creating a model permaculture farm in the town of Beit Sahour (Shepherd's Fields) close to the world famous city of Bethlehem.
Bustan Qaraaqa is seeking to propagate a grassroots permaculture movement in the West Bank, working primarily with farmers and with youth. We believe passionately that permaculture can help to address some of the urgent challenges currently facing the Palestinian people.
