Description:
This project began in 1975 in honor of a famous Argentine woman who during the foundational process of the Argentinean state, in the 19th century fought against unfair conditions of women and proposed a free and public education where women could learn the same disciplines and subjects as men. The main focus areas are: 1. Women rights 2. Women education & empowerment 3. Prevention and assistance from domestic violence 4. Health The project regularly organizes workshops and seminars to promote and raise awareness on gender equality and women rights. The organization has an office in downtown Cordoba, and also works within the facilities of the public library located in a poor neighborhood of Barrio Talleres Este. In close cooperation with this library, the project offers courses and debates about their objectives. Volunteer tasks may include: * Organizing and helping with educational and cultural events. * Caring and accompanying women victims of abuse and domestic violence. * Helping with the promotional activities of the association with ideas for helping to achieve the above-mentioned goals. * Maintaining office and library with different tasks.

What You Get For Your Program Fee * Personalized Volunteer Placement with our Partner in Argentina, based on your skills and interests, including all the coordination, in-person visits and communication necessary with the local organization. * Your 2-day orientation in Buenos Aires, accommodation and most meals included and then a sleeper bus to Cordoba. * A comfortable, safe place to live in Cordoba, the basic amenities, all of your meals except lunch, and transportation from the airport to your placements and programs. * An experienced U.S. based GeoVisions Program Manager (and former volunteer with GeoVisions) who will serve as your coordinator and liaison with our in-country staff in Argentina. * In-country basic language assistance and (optional) language classes. * Professional, locally-based staff to provide orientation, supervision and guidance throughout your stay. * Extensive medical, accident and dental insurance along with emergency evacuation insurance, applicable to GeoVisions' participants worldwide. * Important documents, including in-depth pre-departure packs, orientation information, and all in-country informational materials. * Country-based airport transportation. * A toll-free 24-hour emergency hotline in the U.S.

No matter what you believe your skill level to be, you will have something meaningful and helpful to offer at this very important project. GeoVisions is dedicated to providing a meaningful placement for anyone willing to volunteer, and we believe that the only skills required for most international volunteering is a willingness to learn and an open mind.
