Description:
The education assistance centers supported by our organization are for children between 6 and 12 years of age living in extreme poverty. The centers are important resources that help families organize both work and family life. They offer children games, company, cultural activities, sports, and above all, education. Education Assistance Centers: - Are very important social institutions that greatly benefit society, families, and the children at an individual level. They are considered to be centers of assistance, education, recreation, growth, and protection. - A path to other opportunities: they improve the quality of life for the children. Objectives of the Education Assistance Centers: - Improve the quality of life of the children living in the rural area of the Mantaro Valley. - Offer education and attention in a safe environment to the children whose parents need to work. In these centers the volunteers offer informal education to the children in the form of educational, artistic, cultural, and sporting activities, among other things. They help the children and teenagers with problems they may have and assist them with their homework. It is also highly possible to organize workshops for the parents. - Practical workshops: - Business ideas/skills - Starting and operating a small business - Educational workshops: * Nutrition and health * Sexual education - Literacy

Qualifications:
The volunteer should have the patience to work with and enjoy children and be able to work in a team. Experience in education are of advantage but not compulsory.

Cost Include Description:
Food is only included if you decide for our family homestay option. Excursions can be arranged if you pay the actual costs. Expand Peru does not charge extra for any trips or other free time activities organized with the volunteers.

OBJECTIVES:
For the children:
To improve the quality of life of at-risk children and youth living in extreme poverty from all three of Peru's geographical regions (coast, mountains and rainforest), and to reinforce their integral development.
1. To improve their health, education, and sociability through various volunteering programs.
2. To promote their personal development through a process focusing on their social reintegration.
For the volunteers:
To give young people from all over the world a chance to work as volunteers in a developing country helping th poorest communities.
1. To enable the volunteers' personal and professional development through work that allows them to grow as individuals using their skills and talents.
2. To give the volunteers the opportunity to participate in and learn from a vey rich and different culture through a direct experience.
