Description:
Schools in the rural settings do not receive the same amount of attention and help as the ones in the cities. They are faced with a multitude of problems - logistical, economical and technical, and chronically suffer form personnel shortage. The education is kept at the very basic level and there is almost no possibility of any after-school activities which would allow children to develop their personal interests. Thus, the children attending these schools do not have the same opportunities as their peers in the cities. That is why we decided to work in these zones and to provide assistance where it is truly needed. Volunteers work closely with the teachers in the formal education system helping with alphabetization and instruction of core subjects. However, they are also encouraged to develop their own programs that will promote creativity and individual thinking, will allow for the development of children's personal interests and in general will broaden their horizons. Activities to be performed by volunteers: The most important work of the volunteer in this project is the interaction with the children. They need much attention, dedication and above all, much love. Depending on the strengths and capabilities of each volunteer, a subject/course will be chosen which then will help them to develop and implement their goals. The three classes are: - English - Art - Computation (Math) If you have other qualities, let us know and we will help organize something special. Remember that everything that can contribute to personal growth and emotional development of children is useful and necessary.
