Description:
Looking to make a difference? Be a part of something NEW! Work directly with our board members of LLI in coordinating and establishing our Education Programs in Ate-Vitarte, Lima, Peru. You are needed and you will make a difference! An ideal volunteer candidate for this position would be independently minded, able to handle many responsibilities, have at least an intermediate level of conversational Spanish, and a desire to join with LLI to educate poor women and children. We ask the volunteer be available for at least 8 weeks, however we are flexible. Please contact us for details concerning housing.

Qualifications:
Volunteers should be independent, responsible, able to adapt to new situations, a desire to educate, and a passion to help a poor community in need! Also, all volunteers must be over the age of 18 and in good health.

Please inquire about our program fees. Housing will be provided at minimal cost. Transportation and food expenses will the responsibility of the volunteer. One-on-one or group Spanish language instruction is available for a small fee, if requested.

The Light and Leadership Initiative's Mission Statement: The Light and Leadership Initiative's mission is to respond to the needs of the women in Huaycan, located in the Ate-Vitarte district of Lima, Peru in their struggle out of poverty by improving the availability and quality of education offered to women and children. Through workshops and classes, women are empowered to better care for themselves and their families by improving both their physical and emotional well being, as well as advancing their skills in the workforce. Children are offered similar opportunities and learn the value of education and respect for one's community. We believe the women and children of the Ate-Vitarte district will become positive leaders for change through love, support, and education.

The Light and Leadership Initiative is a Presbyterian based organization. We do not require our participants to be of the same faith. Our volunteers will not be involved in religious proselytizing.
