Description:
Give Four Hours. Change Lives. Each year, the Center for Economic Progress helps working families in Illinois get the most out of tax time--not only benefitting individual families, but their communities as well. We are looking for volunteers to join us for the 2009 tax season! Our state-wide network of volunteers provides free tax preparation to Illinois families who need it the most. No tax experience is necessary! All training is provided. What opportunities are available? We are currently seeking volunteers for the following positions: * Tax Preparers assist clients with preparing federal and state income tax returns and provide counseling to clients on tax credits and forms. * Tax Site Assistants assist with non-tax oriented activities, such as translating, greeting, client screening, photocopying, or other administrative duties. Who can volunteer? Anyone! No prior tax experience is required. All necessary trainings are provided. Where and when can I volunteer? We have over 30 tax sites in Illinois; approximately half are located in Chicagoland. You choose the tax site and training location that is most convenient for you. Trainings begin in January.
