Description: Weekly tasks and expectations:
*You will be providing language classes according to the schedule and also you will be teaching about 2 or 4 hours per day during weekdays (except Monday when the school is closed). Weekends and Mondays are free. Apart from the time spent teaching you will be working about 1 to 2 hours a day to prepare your classes and homework. The cleaning of the classrooms is shared by all teachers and requires about one hour per week per person.

*When you first arrive David will sit down with you and discuss the teaching plan. You will then be empowered to plan classes independently and David will be available for guidance as you need it.

*From Tuesday to Friday one volunteer will have a minimal of 8 hours ( 2 hours a day) and a maximal of 16 hours ( 4 hours a day)
teaching any language.

*From time to time we need help with the promotional work for the school in places such as churches, universities, markets, etc. This includes; handing out flyers, and painting signs and walls with our logo and information, in order to inform the locals about the school. These tasks are usually done in the beginning of the month, and range from about 3 to 4 hours on any given day

Qualifications:
* Have a minimal knowledge of the Spanish language, basic!
* Have an enthusiastic and lively character in a classroom environment.
* Be self-confident.
* That you commit to at least one full course of exactly one calendar month.
to show up a few days before the end of the month and stay at least till the end of the next. The longer you can stay the better of course. Past volunteers have recommended a longer commitment to get more out of the experience.
* That you stay onsite OR if you choose to live offsite that you take responsibility for commuting to and from work.
* Be a very responsible and punctual person.
* Teaching experience is not necessary, but very beneficial.
* It is expected that you take your job seriously, and be a realible, fun teacher for all of your students.
* Must be able to survive in conditions that might not be as "perfect" as in the Western World countries. This may include living in basic conditions but also getting accustomed to the Peruvian way of life. Can you cope with things not running on time, changing situations etc?

Cost in US$: There is no placement fee

How much money do I need for my stay?

Life is cheap here, particularly if you arriving from Europe or the U.S.A or even for that matter, from other parts of South America. We dont charge a fee but it is your responsibility to pay for ALL your living expenses. Accommodation is around $30US a month, a typical main meal around 2 USD, a big beer around 1.50 USD, and a bottle of water around 30 cents.

How much you spend really depends on you it could be as little as 300 USD a month- or much much more, depending what kind of stuff you do.

Typical Volunteer: Independent traveler, someone who is not afraid to get put in front of a class and teach (though you don't need experience)! Someone who is keen to learn more about Peruvian culture and is not afraid of adapting to this culture!

Espaanglisch Language School's Mission Statement: Espaanglisch offers inexpensive language classes using native English speakers to benefit the poorest economic areas of Trujillo, Peru. This program is aimed at giving those previously unable to afford language classes a chance to learn a new language. In doing so Espaanglisch allows for the fostering of new skills and opportunities in both their students and the community as a whole.
