Description: Sragen is one of regency (Indonesian: Kabupaten) in Central Java, known as a rice center and prehistoric remains (Sangiran). Most people there work as farmer (around 58%). As part of Javanese culture, they have also gamelan music, traditional dance and puppet show. Sragen can be reach from Yogyakarta within 2 hours drive.

Blend in Daily Life of Sragen

Highlights: Live and work in a Javanese village by teaching English and Math in village schools (from elementary to high school), and teaching computer for community. Volunteers live with the host family on local house. We manage a separate, simple, clean and modest room as well as local meals three times a day.

This is the most hands on program with volunteers given full responsibility to conduct classes and educational activities.

Qualifications: No prior teaching experience or in-depth knowledge of grammar and vocabulary required.
