GaiaVista: Eco-Adventure

  Costa Rica
  • Central Pacific Coast:
  • Osa Peninsula

Durations of Program: 1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks, 9-12 weeks, 3-6 months, 7-12 months and 1-2 years
Typical Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Dates: Programs Starting on December 2008

Description: As you know we will be planting and designing our sustainable organic farm while building and living in primitive structures and tents. This is for the eco-adventurous who would love to experience living primitively in the rainforest and on the beach.

Aside from our rainforest property, we also have an acre and a half right on the beach on an island just below our land.   The island is only 200 yards off shore and is almost 7 miles long and is completely private with only a couple of people besides ourselves living on it. The beach property is definitely another slice of paradise; we can even gather clams for dinner by just spending a few minutes on the beach.

GaiaVista: Eco-Adventure

Highlights: The main part of Gaia Vista is a magical place with 3 streams, a river, over a dozen waterfalls and swimming holes. We will planting our organic farm using Permaculture principles, and will be building primitive structures on parts of our land that were cleared years ago for farming; so we will not be having any negative impact on the rainforest. We will also be scouting out and probably building the first tree house in Ewok Village.

GaiaVista's Mission Statement: Gaia Vista has the vision of becoming the world's first sustainable eco resort and community dedicated to environmental and sustainable research, collaboration and education. We will be using state of the art green technologies, and will become a living showcase of these sustainable technologies. Gaia Vista is a magical place where you can eat organic food grown right off the land. The farming of our organic food is designed using permaculture as way to grow what we eat in a natural and sustainable way. Gaia Vista can be seen, both as a model of a new way of living, and as a place to heal, grow and re-awaken deeper aspects of ourselves that we have forgotten and lost in the frantic and hectic pace of our industrialized world. This is not necessarily a serious journey, but a playful, creative, spontaneous and sometimes intense unfolding of what it feels like to be alive; connected and nurturing towards ourselves, other animals and the fragile ecosystem in which we live.
