Disaster Response Volunteers Needed in Haiti!

Description: Volunteers are needed to help Haiti recover from hurricane damage. Haiti was recently hit in succession by Tropical Storm Fay and Hurricanes Gustav, Hanna and Ike, which affected an estimated 800,000 people. HODR has deployed to the coastal city of Gonaives, Haiti, to assist in the city's recovery through volunteer efforts. The flooding from these storms left the entire city, its homes and buildings, feet deep in mud. HODR volunteers work 6 days per week, removing this mud, and helping the community get back on its feet. Email today if you're interested in lending a hand or learning more.

Qualifications: HODR strives to make it easy and productive for interested individuals to assist disaster-affected communities. You let us know when you would like to come, pay your way to our site, are willing to work 6 days per week to help the community recover, and pay nothing to the organization. HODR provides free and effective relief services to communities by supporting volunteers with housing, meals, tools, and organized work at no charge. Come for one day or the entire duration of the project - there is no minimum or maximum time requirement. Come, do wonderfully dirty and effective work, and help the people of Gonaives, Haiti.

  • Typical Volunteer: HODR volunteers are of all ages and backgrounds. To give you an idea, at our largest international project to date, 534 volunteers, from 30 countries, came to assist in the recovery and reconstruction of Pisco, Peru after an 8.0 earthquake. In Peru, most of our volunteers were in their 20s-30s, we had over 40 volunteers in their 50s-60s, and our oldest volunteer was 71.

    This Program is open to American, Australian, Canadian, European, Kiwi, South African and Worldwide Participants. This Program is also open to Families, Couples and Individuals
