Highlights:
Spend a week vacation volunteering and learning to surf in a warm tropical paradise with a beachside cottage, cool white sand, palm trees, and 80°F water! Let Eco Surf Volunteers help you explore Ecuador's empty beaches and coastal surf villages while you volunteer to help local children and improve the local elementary school. Your adventure begins when you meet Eco Surf Volunteers staff who accompany you on and your friends on an international flight to South America's Ecuador. Arriving in Manta, take Eco Surf Volunteers transportation north to the coastal fishing village of Canoa and check-in to your beachside accommodations complete with ocean view, hammocks, billiard table, games room, restaurant, and swimming pool. Each morning after breakfast you'll head out to the volunteer project at the village school. Eco Surf Volunteers has teamed up with community leaders to work hard to improve and expand the local elementary school. With your help, we will be building new classrooms using locally grown bamboo, repainting and repairing existing classrooms, and teaching English through games, activities and sports in an early childhood development program. After your morning volunteer work and a hearty lunch, kick back and relax in a hammock before gearing up for your afternoon surf. You'll head out with Canoa's best as they show you their favorite local surf spots. You also have the option to take advantage of free daily surf lessons from Ecuador's own Junior Surf Champion and his team of surfriders. Each lesson is two hours long, and the student/instructor ratio is no more than 4:1. After 4 hours in the water and a tasty Ecuadorian dinner, join one of the various evening activities designed to help you become even more immersed in the community as well as promote further cultural awareness. And don't be too shy to ask one of the friendly locals for a Salsa Dancing lesson - always a hit!! Qualifications:
By combining superior knowledge of the worlds most exotic destinations with professional experiences as educators, travelers, surfers, and in hospitality, Eco Surf Volunteers creates travel adventures more exciting than any a volunteer or surfer has dreamed of. Understanding that ESV participants desire more from their surf/volunteer adventure, Eco Surf Volunteers is committed to facilitating the best opportunities for beach-goers to make a positive impact on our global community. Every ESV participant is immersed in local eco-volunteer & community service programs designed to raise awareness of conservation, enhance understanding of local culture, and create Spanish immersion opportunities. Eco Surf Volunteers is committed to encouraging the continuation of local traditions while stimulating the local economy. By choosing exotic destinations unknown to the majority of international travelers and organizing local volunteer projects for eager community student-leaders, ESV and it's participants are certain to create a positive impact on the local economy. Eco Surf Volunteers also selects destinations capable of handling a moderate group of surfers without upsetting the harmony in the water. ESV professionals have felt the grief when a surf camp unloads itself on a break creating unmanageable numbers in the line-up. Each ESV tour location is chosen with extreme care to insure that local surfers will not feel any unwanted pressure from our surfers.
