Baan Ngaow Learning Center - Project Coordinator Needed
Thailand
Durations of Program: 5-8 weeks, 9-12 weeks and over 2 years
Typical Duration of Program: 3-6 months
Description:
Culture Network Foundation (CNF) is establishing a new project called Baan Ngaow Learning Center located in Ranong Province of Thailand. The project aims to provide basic education, occupational skills and cultural activities to those disadvantaged children who are in dire need of help. The center has been set up as an alternative school or a learning center for Burmese children who flee from Burma with their parents since the Cyclone Nargis. These kids do not meet the requirements of Thailand standard school; therefore, could not apply to study. We don't want them to lose interest in education or worse think of becoming thieves or prostitutes instead. Education as we see it is not only important to the children as individuals but also to the whole community. Now we are urgently seeking experienced independent volunteers with exceptional organization and communication skills including strategic planning and implementing to help us at the project site for at least 3 months (with preference of a longer commitment) as a PROJECT COORDINATOR (start as soon as possible). The volunteer's primary focus is to build and strengthen the project as well as the following: - Create strategic plan, workflow, plus action plan - Implement plan - Organize related activities to support project objectives such as - Recruiting and promoting volunteer opportunities. - Planning weekly volunteer activities schedules. - Assist in fundraising and materials needed for the learning center. - Teach English and lead workshops. - Interact with people involved with the project. - Update and report work progress and related issue to project leader. - Equip other staffs and volunteer with knowledge to carry on the project once program is finished. Through this unique position, the volunteer will have the opportunity to truly integrate in the community, build relationships, gain a deep understanding of the local culture and language, learn about group dynamics and cultural differences and meet new people! Please note that the project is located in the rural area of Thailand; therefore, this opportunity is appropriate for someone who is flexible and capable of living in remote area.
