Description:
In Longo Mai, a region of Costa Rica, an art school is being created. The objective is to promote among the local youngsters the development of creativity and different forms of expression promoting new ways for the cultural development of Latin America. There is also another initiative, to create a university called "Universidad Alternativa del Sur" (Alternative University of the South). In this frame they are inviting a group of international volunteers to participate in a project in the community of Finca el SoƱador, Longo Mai in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Volunteers will participate in the organization of the Cultural Festival of Longo Mai community. The group will also participate in the local program for recuperation of trees in danger of extinction, maintenance of the ecological road of the community (repairing stairs, installing signs), recycling activities and also activities with the local cooperative that produces organic coffee. The volunteers will also participate in workshops to promote international solidarity and intercultural understanding. There is an extra fee of 210 Euro for participation in this volunteer project, intended to support the hosting organization.
