Duration of Program: 7-12 months
Typical Duration of Program: 7-12 months

Description: Visions in Action volunteers work in the a variety of International Development fields including, but not limited to, Health care, HIV/AIDS, Education, Children, Human Rights, Community Development, Law, Women, Environment, Agriculture and Refugee Relief. Placements are made based on volunteer experience and interest.

Visions in Action currently has Classic and Supported Volunteer Programs for a duration of sic to twelve months in the following locations:

* Oaxaca, Mexico (Starting each January, June (short-term) and July)

The Mexico Classic Volunteer Program offers is based in Oaxaca. The volunteers live together in group housing. The Mexico Program begins on January 25, 2009 (preorientation begins January 4th, 2009.)

* Kampala, Uganda (Starting each September and March)

The Uganda Classic Volunteer Program is based in Kampala. The volunteers live together in group housing. The Uganda Program begins every September and March.

The Uganda Supported Volunteer Program offers positions with Visions in Action Development Programs in Northern Uganda.

The Visions in Action programs include:

1) HIV Voluntary Counseling and Testing Program for Youth in Northern Uganda.
2) Education Rehabilitation and Support Program

* Arusha and Moshi, Tanzania (Starting each January, June (short-term) and July)

Visions in Action sends volunteers to Tanzania every January and July. Volunteers live in group housing in Arusha, a fairly large city with numerous volunteer opportunities, and Moshi, a much more rural site located at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Visions in Action Supported Volunteer Program offers positions with Visions in Action in Tanzania.

* Johannesburg, South Africa (Starting each January and July)

The South Africa Classic Volunteer Program offers volunteer opportunities, departing each January and July. Our volunteers are based in Johannesburg and live in a group house in the multi-ethnic Melville neighborhood.

Visions in Action Supported Volunteer Program offers positions with Visions in Action in South Africa.

* Liberia

Visions in Action Supported Volunteer Program offers positions with Visions in Action in Liberia.

Volunteer with Visions in Action

Highlights: Visions in Action works in many vibrant cities and communities whether large or small. VIA locations are also very near some of the most famous sites in Africa including; Moshi, Tanzania is located at the seat of Mount Kilimanjaro, Johannesburg a famous South African community and Kampala, Uganda an international city and a hub from NGOs. Whether you are looking for a small rural setting or a big city VIA has a great position for you!
