Description: Elderly Care Centers provide a home for approximately 65 elderly people. Most of the residents are fit, healthy and would thrive off the stimulation that young people could provide. Human interaction is important as many of the residents feel neglected and isolated. Sometimes they develop activities like handicraft, painting, embroidering and gardening, which volunteers are encouraged to help with. Many of the elderly suffer from arthritis, back pains and lack of mobility.

* What kind of Skills do I need?
You will have a love for elders and be able and willing to give that love along with care, patience and understanding.

* Your Role as a Volunteer
You will be involved in the day to day care of the elderly and be involved in taking care of them changing pampers, taking showers, feeding, assisting qualified staff in treating elderly health problems, giving as much love as you can, making craft activities, exercising, etc. Perhaps taking them to the hospital or taking them walk to near parks or churches. We recommend having Intermediate Spanish level in order to have a better experience.

Qualifications: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to apply for our volunteer program, have at least an understandable Spanish level and you should learn as much as you can before you arrive to your placement town, also must have fluent English.
