Gain A Broader View of the World: Volunteer in the Philippines!
Philippines
Durations of Program: 1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks and 5-8 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: Flexible start and end dates
Description:
Our volunteer projects in the Philippines are based in the Visayan Islands. Programs are available in Tacloban City and the surrounding rural towns; and also on Olango Island. Volunteers work in local orphanages, teach English in primary schools, support street children at a community shelter, work in medical clinics and help support environments and conservation projects on the islands. Placements are available year round. There is no official start dates. Programs are customized for each participant. Project lengths vary from one week to two months. The work week is Monday-Friday 40 hours per week. Volunteers have evenings and weekend free to explore the towns, the local beaches and wonderful culture of the Philippines. Our projects are not based in typical tourist areas, so volunteers can gain a true sense of real life in a small community setting.
Highlights:
* Safe, affordable quality projects * Cultural immersion with a local host family * Experience unique locations from the inside, not as a typical tourist * Language classes * Professional service, on the ground support staff during your project. Hospitality is one of the Filipino characters that truly distinguish them from other Southeast Asian people. A visitor is treated as the most important person they have ever met and will be introduced to the best the family can offer - the best food, the best place in the table, the best things, and, if they have to stay overnight, the best room and bedding.
Qualifications:
* 17 years and older * Confident, self starting individuals * Flexible attitude * Healthcare volunteers require nursing/medical credentials, medical/nursing school enrollment.
Cost in US$: Programs begin at $875 for one week
