Medical Aid to the Vulnerable Groups and Rural Communities of Macas City

Description: The project is located in the Oriente (Amazon Jungle) in the city of Macas and it will extend to all the rural communities of Morona in the province of Morona Santiago.

Project Description
Volunteers will do social service with regards to health, helping especially with the children and the shuar groups (indigenous people) that live close to Macas and the zone behind Trans CutucĂș. They also give service by working with medical brigades.

Volunteer Work Activities
Volunteers will give medical attention in the doctor's office of the patronage and also make medical brigades in the rural sector.
(The volunteer will receive a little direction from the director of the civil hospital of Macas)

Volunteer Time
The center is open year-round, and the volunteer will work 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday.

Highlights: Ecuador Volunteer Foundation is a non-profit organization that offers volunteer work opportunities abroad in social, environmental, educational and community areas around Ecuador. The main focus of our programs is to offer a cultural exchange experience to each volunteer in all of the projects that at helping and working together with the local people.

Qualifications: This project is looking for the help of men and women from the ages of 24 to 50 years old who are willing to stay for at least three months. Medical knowledge is needed in this project; therefore the volunteers we are looking for should be nurses or doctors. An intermediate level of Spanish is required. If the volunteer is not at this level, Ecuador Volunteer could help him/her to find the best program to improve his/her Spanish skills before starting the project.

Cost Include Description:

*The volunteer will receive a little direction from the director of the civil hospital of Macas.
*Accommodation: The apartment is located in the city of Macas, and is near the projects. One to three volunteers share an apartment and everyone will have their own room. It includes road access for vehicles, hot showers and a kitchen. The project will provide you three meals a day. The costs of food and housing in this project will all be paid for you.
