Human Rights Clinic in Argentina
Argentina
- Buenos Aires:
Buenos Aires
Duration of Program: 9-12 weeks
Description:
This professional community association has a rich history in Buenos Aires. It was first created in 1930 in the neighborhood of La Boca by immigrants and was re-founded in 1996 with the renewed objective to defend and promote human, children, civil, social, political, and cultural rights of its community members. There are many different programs that work with children, women, consumer groups, and other marginalized sectors by providing legal advice and community workshops. Volunteers are needed to help with client intake, assist in providing legal advice, engage in community outreach and organizing campaigns, assist in the development of workshops, and help with any general duties at the clinic. Volunteers will be interacting on a daily basis with a variety of clients and community members of all ages. Volunteers will stay with carefully screened host families for the duration of the program. Two meals a day with your host family are included in your stay. **No meals are served on Sundays. Our staff in the U.S. are experienced volunteers themselves who are happy to share their insight and expertise with prospective volunteers. Our partner staff in Argentina are friendly, caring and dedicated to ensuring that each volunteer's experience is the best it can be. You will be met at the airport and will receive a personal orientation to your new home and your project within the first few days of your arrival. A staff member in Argentina will be available to you throughout your program.
