Duration of Program: 3-6 months

Description:
Get to know the real Argentina from a neighborhood's perspective. This center aims to combine art (such as music, alternative education, handicrafts) with social work in order to help children and adults integrate more fully into society. Since its doors have opened in 1993, the Center has grown substantially and has also been internationally recognized for its arts-based approach. The organization has established several cultural centers that put on expositions, music classes, and educational workshops in order to achieve social transformation. Volunteers are welcome to help with general office duties, share their musical or art talent in the cultural centers, teach English lessons, or organize cultural workshops. This project gives serious volunteers the ability to experience cultural exchange and participate in bringing about societal changes through art. Volunteers will stay with carefully screened host families for the duration of the program. Two meals a day with your host family are included in your stay. **No meals are served on Sundays. Our staff in the U.S. are experienced volunteers themselves who are happy to share their insight and expertise with prospective volunteers. Our partner staff in Argentina are friendly, caring and dedicated to ensuring that each volunteer's experience is the best it can be. You will be met at the airport and will receive a personal orientation to your new home and your project within the first few days of your arrival. A staff member in Argentina will be available to you throughout your program.
