Play and Learn Center for Children in Argentina
Argentina
Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Description:
Experience the real Argentina and develop lasting relationships while helping children in need. This project was started over 12 years ago to provide educational support to children living in the neighborhood of Las Violetas. The Center believes that high quality education should be accessible to everyone, no matter his or her financial status. It is officially recognized by the Argentine government for its dedication to serving the community in need. With a professional day-care, a center for adolescents offering workshops and leisure activities, and a homework support center, the project is giving the impoverished children of the community hope for their future. Help is needed with after-school tutoring and homework support, organizing recreational activities, assisting in developmental workshops for the adolescents, general support in the day-care center, and providing guidance to children in their every day activities. Volunteers play an important role in the children's lives through their positive encouragement. Volunteers will stay with carefully screened host families for the duration of the program. Two meals a day with your host family are included in your stay. **No meals are served on Sundays. Our staff in the U.S. are experienced volunteers themselves who are happy to share their insight and expertise with prospective volunteers. Our partner staff in Argentina are friendly, caring and dedicated to ensuring that each volunteer's experience is the best it can be. You will be met at the airport and will receive a personal orientation to your new home and your project within the first few days of your arrival. A staff member in Argentina will be available to you throughout your program.
