Children's Home in Cordoba, Argentina
Argentina
Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Dates: Flexible, Year Round
Description:
Get to know the real Argentina while making a real difference in the lives of children. Often mistaken for an orphanage, this home was originally founded in 1960 to be for all children who needed a safe place to go and had no where else to turn. It began with only three children and has grown to now permanently house 23 children. Here the children are provided basic necessities and lots of loving care. It is at this center that the children have found the support they deserve and the guidance that will allow them to grow into healthy adults. Volunteers will help the children with their daily activities including picking out clothes, brushing teeth, preparing meals, and assigned chores. Each volunteer will also be able to organize recreational and arts activities, teach basic English, and help the older students with homework assignments. Volunteers will stay with carefully screened host families for the duration of the program. Two meals a day with your host family are included in your stay. **No meals are served on Sundays. Our staff in the U.S. are experienced volunteers themselves who are happy to share their insight and expertise with prospective volunteers. Our partner staff in Argentina are friendly, caring and dedicated to ensuring that each volunteer's experience is the best it can be. You will be met at the airport and will receive a personal orientation to your new home and your project within the first few days of your arrival. A staff member in Argentina will be available to you throughout your program.
