Soup Kitchen and Food Distribution Center in Argentina
Argentina
- Buenos Aires:
Buenos Aires
Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: Flexible, Year Round
Description:
Get to know the real Argentina while you use your talents and people skills to help Argentinean children, adults and families in need. This soup kitchen provides about 80 homeless people with a warm lunch every day. The project also provides emotional support, legal assistance, and basic skills workshops. Volunteers are needed to help with the preparation and distribution of the meals, organizing and leading new workshops for groups of homeless, and engaging in community outreach efforts with assistance of project staff. Mom's Kitchen provides volunteers with the wonderful opportunity to build relationships with the homeless community members through developing new friendships and providing positive support. You will work side by side with Argentineans on this locally designed and run project. You will stay with a carefully screened and welcoming host family, giving you insight into daily life in Argentina. Our staff in the U.S. are experienced volunteers themselves who are happy to share their insight and expertise with prospective volunteers. Our partner staff in Argentina are friendly, caring and dedicated to ensuring that all our volunteers have a rewarding experience. All volunteers will be taken to their host family upon arrival and given an orientation within the first few days.
