Volunteer In Sports and Change A Community in Kenya

Description: Volunteers are sought for:
-To help run a sports camp in soccer, rugby, basketball, tennis, swimming, chess, volleyball during the months of April, August and December. Each camp lasts for a month.
-To teach musical instruments as well as learn about our African culture, music and run community leadership workshops. This is open all year round.
-You can also volunteer to teach at Malezi School,which is the Academy school for children 6 to 18 years old linked to the sports centre. Subjects include Math, English, Reading, Chemistry, Music, French, German, Physics, Biology.

Well, this is our dream come true, us guys who love ourselves and others. A community center that cares for your needs, what could be better? We are even able to reach out to the less fortunate, and learn to appreciate each others right to be on the same planet.

Qualifications:
1. At least 18 years of age
2. Has completed high school (at least)
3. Proof of good grounding in sports to competitive levels, especially in any of: soccer, basketball, athletics, swimming, tennis, volleyball or rugby OR Proficient in a musical instrument(s) and can read music and teach it.
4. Loves working with children and youth

  • Cost Include Description:
    Project Fee: this entails financing that goes directly back into the project that you are involved with. This fee facilitates funding for items such as building materials, equipment, supplies, foodstuffs, etc.
    -All airport transfers from Livingstone International Airport upon your arrival and departure
    -Orientation program
    -All daily transfers to and from your projects during your stay
    -Full board and lodging which includes 3 meals a day at our volunteer house
    -Weekly laundry service during your stay
    -Assistance in your projects by various African staff and volunteer coordinators.
    -Any visits to other programmes based in Kenya

    Must have played and coached at a high level, and be able to offer his/her knowledge in training local coaches through workshops.

    Scholarships are Available. Three sports scholarships are available in April and August every year, for those who has played and coached at a good level in either tennis, rugby, soccer or basketball. This offer includes full accommodation, meals, internal transportation to projects and a four-day safari. Equal opportunity is offered to both men and ladies to apply.

    Malezi Foundation's Mission Statement: Malezi Foundation is a non-profit educational trust, assisting children of all races and creeds, administering to their physical, emotional and educational needs. The foundation, through Sadili Oval and Malezi School, uses sports to improve the health, education, environment and skills of underprivileged communities, especially children, girls and youth from slums in East Africa, including Kibera (Nairobi) and Manyatta (Kisumu), Buyenzi (Bujumbura) and Southern Sudan, and prepare them for integration with the rest of society. In order to support talented but otherwise poor children within East Africa to receive quality education, sport training and community support, the Malezi Foundation has partnered with GlobalGiving, Sadili Oval, Malezi School and Friends of Sadili to offer the African Child Sport and Education Fund.
