Description:
Non-Profit Business Management Internship for Arts and Community Center Interns receive hands-on training in non-profit arts business management in an award-winning theater arts and community service organization. The interns' primary responsibility is to manage the daily administrative operations of the organization and to take a leadership role in programming initiatives. There will be opportunities to work closely with the senior staff in administrating and producing on-going classes and workshops for professional actors and in community programs that serve Youth-at-Risk and homeless children. Under the supervision of the ATW staff, interns will be accountable for the completion of projects in management of ATW's studio rental business, theater administration, team management, marketing, development, sales, fund-raising, video production, event planning, and graphic design. For international applicants, English proficiency is required. The interns' primary responsibility is to manage the daily administrative operations of the organization and to take a leadership role in programming initiatives. Internships are available for 4 to 18 months in duration and are 40 hrs per week. In special circumstances a limited number of part-time volunteer positions are also be considered. Please, note that this is a non-paid internship (interns have to be able to sustain themselves financially during their program at ATW).

The Actors Theatre Workshop's Mission Statement: The Actors Theatre Workshop is an established pioneer in non-profit theatre committed to producing classical and contemporary plays, developing new dramatic works, training and developing actors, writers and directors while making a difference in the lives of homeless children and the community at large. ATW was founded over two decades ago in a studio on Manhattan's upper west side.
For the past decade, ATW has flourished as an artistic leader in the field, producing award-winning programs and productions addressing the enormous cultural challenges of childhood poverty and inclusive community building, maintaining high artistic training standards, and developing an organization of artistic merit that has proven itself worthy of public, private and civic support.
Thurman E. Scott, ATW's Artistic Director, Executive Producer and Founder, is a widely acknowledged expert of artistic project development. As a director/producer, he creates new products for stage, television and film, from concept to final production. Mr. Scott is an innovator of award-winning arts curriculums and programs for professional artistic training as well as public service to culturally under-served communities.
