From diving or snorkeling in the crystal blue waters of the Bay Islands to visiting the legendary city of Copan Ruinas, our Volunteer in Honduras Program offers an unparalleled array of exciting opportunities and activities. As volunteers in Honduras, Rustic Volunteer Travel invites you to discover the ruins of the Mayan Empire and cultural marvels of this country while providing a helping hand to community-based causes. Being a volunteer allows you to explore one of the most intriguing and mystifying lands of the Western hemisphere while sharing your love and support with needy orphans, deprived children and other disadvantaged people.

Highlights: Projects are available in Copan Ruinas (home to the Mayan Empire, Bay Island). World famous for its archaeology, Honduras is full of natural and cultural diversity. Its strong cultural heritage is based on its ethnic diversity -- a mixture of indigenous European and African races. About 90 percent of the Honduran population is mestizo, a mixture of indigenous, African, and Spanish races also referred to as Ladino. Its full of contrasts: from traditional culture and history to modern urban infrastructure and much of the amenities you would expect from a city.

Volunteers can organize different possible excursions during and after the project to visit places of interest. There is a tourist infrastructure already in place the volunteer can use during weekends. For example: snorkeling, Mayan ruins, scuba diving, hiking, reef diving, mountains, art, milk fairs, festivals, caves, ecological parks, hotels, and many more.
