Description:
Guatemala, in the heart of Central America, is an excellent place to learn Spanish, do volunteer work and travel. For a magical, unforgettable experience, travelers should look no farther than Guatemala, the "Country of Eternal Spring." It boasts of hospitable people, mystic traditions, and a rich culture. From majestic volcanoes to the indescribable beauty of the indigenous flora and fauna, travelers will be captivated by Guatemala's alluring variety of landscapes. Rustic Volunteer Travel's volunteer and travel in Guatemala program offers volunteers the opportunity to explore this great land while working to aid the deprived in Guatemala through projects focused on teaching, orphanage help, health issues, and other community development programs. Programs in Guatemala: 1. Guatemala Work in an Orphanage 2. Guatemala English Teaching 3. Guatemala Health/Medical Project 4. Guatemala Street Children Project For more information about each project, please click on the link above "Visit the Website".
Highlights:
Projects are available in Antigua (meaning old Guatemala (the first capital of Guatemala), Volcán de Agua ("Volcano of Water"), Parque Central), and Guatemala City (Zona Viva "Zone Ten", John Paul II monument, and Guatemala City Valley). Touted for its great tasting coffee, Guatemala has a rich and distinctive culture from its long mix of elements from Spain and the native Maya people. This diverse history and the natural beauty of the land have created a destination rich in interesting and scenic sites. It's full of contrasts: from traditional culture and history to modern urban infrastructure and offers the tourist all the services and commodities as expected from any other city. Volunteers can organize different possible excursions during and after the project to visit places of interest. There is a tourist infrastructure already in place the volunteer can use during weekends. For example: architecture, volcanoes, beautiful church ruins, zoos, museums, parks, walking tours, hiking, restaurants, hotels, and many more.
