Description:
The Blue Mountain Project Service Learning Program is designed for adventure seekers who wish to see Jamaica beyond its resorts and are looking for the opportunity to improve third world conditions through using their skills and talents. Volunteers live with host families and eat authentic cuisine. In exchange for immersion into Jamaican culture, volunteers agree to participate in a service project. Projects vary according to community demand and offer opportunities for volunteers to observe and participate in sustainable community development. Current opportunities include medical care, construction and tutoring.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, unless accompanied by an adult. For every three applicants under the age of 18, there must be one accompanying adult.

Typical Volunteer: Most volunteers are in their 20's and have just graduated from college and want to have an international volunteer experience before they begin their careers. However, many professionals donate their time as doctors, dentists, teachers, engineers and clergy.
