Description:
The Asian Rural Institute (ARI) seeks a volunteer Linux/Windows/Network Administrator to manage the ARI network and associated servers and services in Linux and Windows environments. This individual would also provide end-user support and training for staff and participants. The ARI network has two parts: the main office network and a network for participants. The office network consists of a Linux server running samba, providing file-sharing services to Windows clients, DNS, DHCP, and MySQL. The participants' network utilizes an Ubuntu server with remote thin clients (based on Linux Terminal Server Project). ARI is an international training center in the Tochigi prefecture of Japan. Participants from developing countries in Asia, Africa and the Pacific study sustainable, organic agriculture techniques, leadership and community development.
Qualifications:
Linux Administration * Ubuntu preferred but other flavors possible * Samba * Apache * MySQL * Linux Terminal Server Project a plus but not required Windows Administration * Experience managing Windows clients and servers Network Administration * Experience designing and configuring IP-based networks and switches * VPN User Support/Training * Some user-support experience required * Experience teaching a plus but not required
