Las Mercedes Reforestation Project's Mission Statement: We are a local family willing to make a difference in the ecology of Nicaragua. We wish to convert our farm land, about 30 acres, back to what it originally was, a beautiful forest full of wild life through the planting of approximately 30,000 trees, the building of a small pond, construction of a new water well, design and construction of irrigation system, the integration of a solar energy system to power and self sustain the farm house and the construction of an organic vegetable garden and planting of fruit trees.
