School for Computer Training in Benin
Benin

Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: Flexible, year round
Description:
Are you knowledgeable about computers? Would you like to help bring computer education to those in the world who normally do not have access to it? This private school in Benin focuses on computer training as essential to the education of its students. With 350 middle school youth attending classes there is a lot of teaching to be done. The school is faced with limited resources and number of computers making it difficult to teach everyday lessons. Volunteers are needed to help assist teachers in the classroom and especially to work with the students in computer training. Emphasis is placed on teaching and improving fundamental computer skills according to the student's age and skill level. There is also the ability to organize recreational and arts activities. This volunteer project is an unmatched opportunity to get to know the country and its people on a personal level, and contribute to programs that are making a real difference in the lives of the children and youth it serves. You will work side by side with Beninois on this locally designed and run project. You will stay with a carefully screened and welcoming host family, giving you insight into daily life in Benin. Our staff in the US are experienced volunteers themselves who are happy to share their experiences and expertise with prospective volunteers. Our Beninois partner staff are friendly, caring and dedicated to ensuring that all volunteers have a rewarding experience. The center is located in Abomey, about 65 miles from Cotonou. All volunteers will be taken to a host family upon arrival and participate in a three day orientation to Beninois culture and their project.
