Chinese Language & Arts - Volunteer & Chinese Culture

Description: We have 3 kinds of programs for young students all over the world, each with 2 sessions:

1) Volunteer & Culture Camp (3-weeks)
2) Language & Arts Camp (3-weeks)
3) China Insight Camp (2-weeks)

All camps include the following:

* Chinese language study through high-quality classroom education, 1-on-1 partnership with local Chinese students, real-life conversation of field-trip practices, activities with local students, etc.
* Chinese traditional arts learning including Chinese painting, Er Hu (2-string fiddle), Martial arts, Paper-cutting, Tie-dye
* Chinese history learning from museum visits and in-depth exploration in ancient capitals of China
* Probing today's China to get know of its rapid development and new challenges through activities, factory tours, city walks etc.
* Understanding the livings of Chinese in different ages and classes from talks, home visits, shopping experiences etc.
* One-day visit to Children charity Villages to give some hands, understand their lives, and learn from these children who never gave up in spite of their family misfortunes
* Eye-opening tours to historical and cultural sites of China ancient capitals: Beijing, Xi'an, Luoyang, Zhengzhou.

Overall, the goal of our China programs is to foster students' interest and motivation in Chinese language and culture, inspire students to develop their own insights about China that might impact their future, build personal growth and self-confidence for life-time benefit.

Chinese Language & Arts - Volunteer & Chinese Culture

Highlights: We have three kinds of camps in Bejing China for this year of 2009!

(1) Volunteer & Culture Camp ******

Eligibility: students 14+ years old. Parents can also join to accompany a student.

Description: The 3-week program combines volunteer work, study, travel, experiences and challenges altogether to provide maximum learning experience for our participants.

The participants will provide one-week community service in SOS Children's Village and in Sun Village, both non-governmental charitable organizations for providing foster care and education for the children with unfortunate family experiences. Although the villages are doing their best jobs to make the children growing up happily and healthily, there are limited hands with financial difficulties. Our volunteers' work are to help and teach English to children in SOS village, help house works, farm works, organize recreational and sports activities for the children etc., jointly with local Chinese student volunteers from university or high schools. A volunteer will get officially certificate of 50 hours volunteer credits upon completion of volunteer works.

Before the volunteer works, we will first get the participants acquainted with Chinese culture and environment. A participant will learn practical Chinese skills from classroom education and real life experiences of field-trips. Our traditional arts professionals will also teach students several skills of Chinese traditional arts including Chinese painting, Erhu, Martial Arts, Tie-Dye, and paper-cuttings. Student will get the chances talking to young students, senior people, shop owners, teachers, artists etc., visit homes of Beijingers, restaurants, school, park, market etc., and join recreational activities with local students, to undertand the livings of Chinese in different ages and classes. From visits to history museums and in-depth explorations and tours in Beijing, students can understand the rich history of ancient China and understand modern China. Students will also appreciate traditional Chinese arts by watching shows as Peking Opera, Acrobatic shows, Tea-art Performance, etc. At the end of the program, participants will also travel to other ancient capitals of China, Xi'an, Luoyang, and Zhengzhou for culture enhancement trips.

(2) Language & Arts Camp ******
Eligibility: Students 8 to 20 years old. Parents can also join to accompany a student.

Description: For three weeks, led by our staffs of LoongBridge experienced in cross-cultural education, the program combines study, travel, experiences and challenges altogether to create unforgettable memories for our students.

During the camp, students will study Chinese language from high-quality classroom and real-life conversation, learn several skills of Chinese traditional arts from professionals including Chinese painting, Erhu, Martial Arts, Tie-Dye, and paper-cuttings, learn Chinese history from museum visits and exploring ancient capitals of Beijing, Xi'an, Luoyang and Zhengzhou, feel the rapid development of modern China through a diversity of activities including factory tours, city walks, Olympic Village visits etc., visit homes of Beijingers, restaurants, school, park, market etc., join activities with Chinese children of similar ages, appreciate shows as Peking Opera, Kung-fu, Tea-art performance etc., achieve in-depth understanding of the livings of Chinese people of different ages and classes by talking to young students, senior people, shop owners, teachers, artists etc, and visiting homes of Beijingers, restaurants, school, park, food market, night-market etc.

The experience also includes a one-day visit to Children's Village in rural area of Beijing founded for providing foster care and education for the children of convicts to provide extra hands, hear their stories and learn from these children who had all become very independent although with earlier unfortunate experiences.

Through the 3-week program, we will help students earn or improve Mandarin language skills, inspire students' enthusiasms on Mandarin study and Chinese culture, gain deeper knowledge and insights about China, as well as build personal growth and self-confidence for life-time benefit.

(3) China Insight Camp ******
Eligibility: Students 8 to 20 years old. Parents can also join to accompany a student.

Description: This is a 2-week program, designed for students who don't have 3-week bandwidth or want to have easy touch on Chinese language study. The program combines study, travel, experiences and challenges altogether to provide students broader views and unique insights about China.

The participants in our program will gain Chinese language skills for practical usage through a series of well-structured classroom education and real-life experiences of field-trips. Our traditional arts professionals will also teach students several skills of Chinese including Chinese painting, Erhu, Martial Arts, Tie-Dye, and paper-cuttings. Students can get the knowledge of rich history of ancient China from visits to history museums and in-depth explorations and tours in ancient capitals of Beijing, Xi'an, Luoyang and Zhengzhou, as well as eye-witness the rapid development of modern China through a diversity of activities including factory tours, city walks, Olympic Village visits etc. Students will also appreciate traditional Chinese shows as Peking Opera, Acrobatic shows, Kung-fun shows, Tea-art Performance, etc.

While staying in Beijing, students can achieve in-depth understanding of the livings of Chinese people by talking to young students, senior people, shop owners, teachers, artists etc., joining recreational activities with local students, and visiting homes of Beijingers, restaurants, school, park, food market, night-market etc.
