Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Description:
We are always in need of volunteers here at LINK-UP. In fact, we find that we are at our best when our core staff is supplemented by international volunteers. Volunteers bring in new ideas and skills that are infinitely valuable to us and therefore to the children we support. In the past we have had volunteers and interns from Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Estonia and the United States. Our volunteers are involved in every corner of our organization and conduct tasks that cover our whole spectrum. LINK-UP has benefited from individuals with such diverse skills as community outreach, office administration, public health, library science, accounting, microfinance, IT training, writing/editing, website management, and so on. Typical volunteer service ranges from two weeks to six months or more. If you are interested in volunteering or interning at LINK-UP for any length of time, please contact us and our Volunteer Coordinator will help match your interests and expertise with our current program needs.

Link-Up Development Group's Mission Statement: It is our aim to give those children who cannot afford the basic means to survive the opportunity to fulfill their full physical, intellectual, and spiritual potential. Link-Up seeks to leverage the age-old African family support system already strained by large numbers of orphans and vulnerable children. We strive to support children and families by helping to provide education, nutrition and health care. These basic needs reduce the risk of poverty and unemployment later in life. Sponsoring a child is an effective and viable way to hoist vulnerable children out of the vicious cycle of poverty, while credit lending enables individuals or families to initiate their own businesses for self-sustainability. In addition, Information Technology courses provide the necessary skills to subsist within the workforce in this day and age.
