Volunteer Travel in South Africa, Swaziland & Mozambique

  Mozambique
    Maputo
  South Africa
    Rural Areas

Dates: Visit our website for upcoming start dates.

Description: Spend time in Southern Africa and do something worthwhile at the same time! This combination program is an ideal six week placement, which combines four weeks of volunteering on community projects with two weeks of adventure travel. You will have the opportunity to teach in local schools or work in child care centers which are understaffed, under funded, and whose facilities are in need of work and attention. These institutions provide care and education for underprivileged children many of whom have broken families as a result of the AIDS pandemic.

When youre not volunteering, two side trips are included in the package. First there is a 5 day safari in Kruger National Park where you will hope to see the Big Five, camp in the African bush and cook your dinner over an open fire. Then you will spend another 5 nights on a tour of Mozambique, where you will stay overnight in the capital, Maputo, before heading to Tofo Beach to enjoy water-sports, local markets and snorkeling with whale sharks.

*How this program makes a difference*
Education is one of the key needs of children in Africa and is their doorway to a bright future. Sixty percent of children in Swaziland cannot afford to attend school due to the effects of unemployment, HIV AIDS and the repercussions of severe drought. About 40% of Swazilands population is HIV positive and by 2010 there will be close to 200,000 orphaned children in the Kingdom.
