Malawi Community Development & Volunteer - Bespoke trip for groups of 10+
Malawi
Durations of Program: 1-2 weeks and 2-4 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: Many dates available for bespoke group requests
Description:
Known as the "Warm Heart of Africa", your group can experience Malawi's legendary welcome with the unrivalled combination of lake, landscape and wildlife whilst offering your support on community development volunteer projects in one of Africa's most beautiful countries. Malawi is like no other country in Africa: small, yet with an immense diversity of scenery and a vast inland sea. From a fantastic base on the shore of Lake Malawi, spend your first week working alongside the locals on a number of essential community projects. We work with a range of projects in the Salima area, with the emphasis on empowerment for local communities, enhancing local livelihoods and education. Many of the schools in the area seriously lack facilities: chairs and tables are almost unheard of even with class sizes of over 100, where classrooms exist they may not even have roofs, or the classes simply sit outside in the shade of a tree. Other projects include supporting clinics and constructing wells and irrigation systems, enabling communities to access facilities which really make a difference to their lives. Then it's onto Malawi's best game reserve, Liwonde National Park. Enjoy two full days on safari, seeing the amazing variety of wildlife for which the region is renowned. Hippos, elephants, antelope and other animals can be seen in abundance, or even the elusive leopard, rhino or lion. Finally a night in the capital Lilongwe before returning home having experienced Africa in a wholly different way! The above is a sample itinerary and can be tailored to specifically meet the needs of your group.
