Description:
Our programs are all non profit and benefit our local communities. The programs are flexible, some more than others and volunteers are able to help make a difference in peoples lives. We offer 24hr support to all volunteers and they stay in 4 star backpackers accommodation with other like minded people. Volunteers are allowed to change between projects or do more than one. We offer the following types of programs: - Looking after, feeding and stimulating orphaned, abused and HIV babies. - Companionship, playing games and socializing with disabled and underprivileged children and adults. - Kite surfing and swimming lessons for township children - Teaching children sports eg. Hockey, Rugby and Soccer. - Helping children with homework and playing with them in their orphanages. - Produce plays and shows with primary school children. - Teach IT and computers to children - Help with fundraising - Start up a school library - Administration work in schools and NPOs - Feeding and clothing street children. Programs are tailor made to the volunteers qualifications and requirements. There is a large need for volunteers currently especially in the schools. Accommodation can be upgraded to a private room for an additional R120p/n. The length of stay can also be altered according to volunteers needs. Visas and insurances are the responsibility of the volunteer. Police clearance certificate is essential. School and Sports projects: The schools are situated in Du Noon, Table View in Cape Town where IsiXhosa is the dominant mother tongue, however classes are in English. Du Noon is a poor, overcrowded sub-economical area comprising about 3,000 dwellings which have been built by the municipality. Approximately 4,000 families are housed in the informal settlement situated in and around Du Noon. Volunteers could help at the junior or senior school, or both. Any skills a volunteer has can be taught to the children. * Sophakama Primary School The school is for students from the age of 6 to 12. Volunteers are needed in the following fields: - Sport (especially hockey) - Arts and Culture (produce plays and shows) - Any IT knowledge is a great skill to teach the children - Help with the library * Inkwenkwezi Senior School The school has children from the age of 13 to 18 in high school. Volunteers are needed in the following fields (qualifications are a bonus): - Sport (especially Touch rugby) - Administration - Setting up the new Library - Helping students with extra remedial classes Disabled Adults and Children: Cheshire Homes: A home and learning centre for underprivileged and disabled adults and children. Volunteers will help with feeding, shopping, outings, companionship, stimulation programs or teaching residence any skills (dancing/sport) etc. This program is very flexible, you can work as much or little as needed. Projects with Streets children, orphans and abused babies: * Home of Hope: A non-profit organisation for abused, abandoned, neglected and HIV Babies. Volunteers will care, feed and look after the children. A minimum of 8 weeks is required for this program with set shifts of up to 5 days a week. * TLC: A non-profit organisation that goes into the townships and feeds homeless children, helps with clothing. Volunteers will help with feeding, educating and playing with the children. Volunteers are welcome to run their own education programs in the township with the children. People with any skills are welcome to teach them to those less privileged. This program is very flexible, volunteers will have to stipulate how many days a week they would like to work and what their skills are before they arrive so a program can be made.

Volunteers should be fit and healthy. Speak good/excellent English. Have a police clearance certificate or the equivalent.
