Volunteer at Children's Dental Clinic in Buenos Aires
Argentina
- Buenos Aires:
Buenos Aires
Durations of Program: 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Dates: Flexible, year round
Description:
The clinic is part of a small international NGO located in the suburbs of Buenos Aires. It consists of two free dental clinics for children who live in the townships nearby. In Argentina, few children who live in severely impoverished neighborhoods enjoy dental care and as a result, their teeth are generally in very poor condition. Volunteers will be working closely with clinic staff to help with everything from routine dental check-ups to more severe cases that need urgent treatment. The materials will be provided by the NGO but volunteers are needed to make sure the operation is running smoothly and the little patients are well attended.
Qualifications:
Volunteers must be trained dentists or advanced in their studies of dentistry and be comfortable working with children. An intermediate level of Spanish is required. Spanish lessons are available prior to the volunteer project in Buenos Aires for an additional fee. A minimum commitment of 4 weeks is required.
