Description:
* Building with stone, mud, lime and wood. * Compost toilets/solar showers. * Gardening organically/along permaculture lines/building fences. * Forestry work.
Highlights:
Could tie the volunteering in with travelling around the region. Apuseni mountains nearby, Tanchaz (dance festival/course) in Kalotaszeg/Tara Calatei in August. Reszigteto, festival on a hill outside of Korosfoi, first Saturday of May. Weekly market in Huedin. Animal market last Monday of the month. Yearly market at nearby Ciucea, around 15th October. Lots of events in nearby city of Cluj (my favourite is the International film festival - TIFF),

Low Impact Living Transilvania's Mission Statement: LILT always puts the environment and sustainability before profit. We will invest in activities which are aimed at assisting rural development in Romania. We will employ local craftsmen and unskilled staff whenever possible. LILT will invest in and generally encourage small local enterprises, invest in the construction of new ecological housing with energy and water effeciency, provide financial assistance to community based industry, organic agriculture and small-scale vegetable production.
