Volunteer and Teach with ILA Vietnam

Highlights: Volunteering
Beyond teaching, you will be able to make a difference in the Vietnamese community by being involved with ILA's charitable wing, the ILA Community Network [ILACN]. Currently, ILACN is involved with three local organisations:

Green Bamboo Shelter
Green Bamboo helps children who have been living on the streets to learn the skills they need to become independent. You can help the children in a variety of ways, including giving free English lessons which will give them more opportunities in the future, doing projects with them, or helping to organise and take them on special outings.

Go Vap Orphanage
Go Vap provides food, housing, and education to approximately 200 orphaned children on the outskirts of HCMC. Many of the children, aged from newborns to eighteen years old, have mental or physical disabilities. You can help feed, change, and hold newborns, play with and help feed toddlers, or help with physical therapy activities and routines of special needs and older children

HCMC Ung Buou Cancer Hospital
Ung Buou Cancer Hospital is the only hospital in all of southern Vietnam which provides cancer treatment to both adults and children. You can volunteer your time in two ways; the first is by providing free English courses to the medical staff. Secondly, volunteers are needed to help with 'play days' in the paediatric ward when a variety of activities are offered including games, colouring, ceramics painting, and movies.

Vietnam
Vietnam is an amazing country to choose for travelling, living, and experiencing another culture. We are offering placement in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), which has an extensive expatriate community, is colourful, and has busy markets set alongside beautiful colonial buildings. Cheap, delicious local food is on every corner, while an extensive array of shopping plazas, cinemas, restaurants, and bars is truly amazing.

Furthermore, travel throughout Vietnam is cheap and easy from HCMC. Vietnam has an extensive coastline which means the beach is never far away and opportunities for diving, surfing and other beach activities are extensive. Vietnam is also home to two World heritage sights, the central highlands which are famous for a cool mountainous climate, numerous minority groups, and spectacular waterfalls.
