Description:
We are looking for volunteers with a degree or experience in social work to work with our children. You will work together with our Brazilian social worker. As a social worker at Casa do Caminho, you will have the following key responsibilities: * Evaluate and improve the existing education system
* Give advice and training to the educators and give suggestions for improvements.
* Work closely with the children and teenagers to help them cope with their past and to improve their social behavior
* Do family visits in the area of Duque de Caxias together with our social worker
* Help social workers do administrative paper work.

Qualifications:
* Basic Portuguese skills
* Willing to work within 6 months - 2 years volunteer/trainee period
* Degree or experience in psychology
* Experience in working with children and teenagers

Comunidade Rural Casa do Caminho's Mission Statement: Casa do Caminho is an orphanage situated in the middle of the Tingua rainforest, outside of Rio de Janeiro. Casa do Caminho aims to take the children away from aggression, drugs & criminality in Rio de Janeiro and surrounding suburbs. In the orphanage Casa do Caminho provides children with shelter, health care, education and a lot of freedom to play!
