Description:
One of the few hospitals in the area of Amabato that provides affordable and quality care to the community, the doctors, staff, and volunteers work hard to attend to the hundreds of patients that line the waiting room each day. With many services specializing in mother and infant care, it is not uncommon to have a ward filled with newborns and recovering mothers. The hospital also has a large clinic that tends to the daily needs of the sick and injured. This volunteer project is an incredible opportunity to get to know the country and its people on a personal level. You will work side by side with Ecuadorian medical personnel. You will stay with a carefully screened and welcoming host family, giving you insight into daily life in Ambato, Ecuador. Our staff in the US are experienced volunteers themselves who are happy to share their experiences and expertise with prospective volunteers. Our partner staff in Ecuador are friendly, caring and dedicated to ensuring that all volunteers have a rewarding experience. You will be met upon arrival in Quito and will receive an orientation and overnight stay. You will be assisted with your travel arrangements to Ambato the following day.
