Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks

Description: Are you ready to get mucky with some paint in front of wide eyed children with gleaming smiles?

Volunteer Art Teaching Placements Positions - Flexible Start Dates- Just turn up and Volunteer!

All children need a variety of experiences to assist them in exploring their environment. Through art, children learn to value their own uniqueness and to appreciate the individuality of others. This is very applicable in the rural communities we work in where children come from very poor backgrounds and activities like drawing, sketching, colouring and painting provide a wonderful opportunity for children to express themselves.

Year Out India teaching programs in rural communities focus on teaching ART to the children of the many rural schools we work with. Year Out India volunteers help in conducting activities like clay modeling, painting, drawing, singing, art & drama, dancing, group work, games or other similar activities. Your help and assistance will be greatly appreciated in these rural schools and will be a refreshing change to existing curriculum. These schools typically have limited resources, both infrastructure and staff.

Teaching Creative Art

Highlights: As a volunteer art teacher, you can also involve children in doing art project in the classrooms and around the school. On some days, you can also meet your students for informal English language training. Volunteers also accompany students to local art festivals and inter school arts competition. At other times, you can involve children and teachers by arranging field trips, audio visual programs, games or other organized events. You could also teach various other disciplines according to your choice or ability. All our partner rural schools welcome your participation in their programs. All resources required for these activities will be provided by Yearoutindia which is where part of your program fee is used.

You can be a valuable resource in the classroom teaching students from elementary through to high school. With most programs you can volunteer as an "Art Teacher" / "Teaching assistant" which are enjoyable, fun and activity packed intensive projects. These can be customised according to the need of the host school and the individual volunteer.

Volunteers can also host discussions about their homelands, including culture, history, lifestyles, sports and school systems. The emphasis of the classroom teaching, art activities and teaching English is to encourage creativity and allowing children to express themselves. You'll usually teach 4-5 hours a day, Monday through Friday, and have sometime each day to collaborate with your team mates and prepare for classes. The rest of the day and weekends are free for you to explore the breathtaking surrounding and experience the colourful culture of rural India.

Come and volunteer your time and energy to this worthwhile project and take back memorable and unforgettable experience.
