United Planet's Quests offers volunteers a unique blend of work, cultural emersion, and fun. All ages and skill levels are invited to apply. Everyone has something to offer! Costa Rica Wildlife Conservation: The project is located in the region of Quepos in the Pacific Coast. The project started as a farming cooperative by the local peasants, who wish to improve their lives. United Planet's partner organization dedicates itself to protecting the fauna diversity in the region by: Giving shelter and medical attention to confiscated, donated or injured fauna; Rehabilitating and reintroducing the animals into the wild; developing and executing environmental education programs to both locals and foreigners; performing research programs related to animal health care, husbandry, biology and veterinary, while playing a part in Eco-tourism of this area. Volunteer duties include: helping to maintain, develop and improve the Wildlife Conservation Center; cleaning cages; preparing diets and feeding animals; conducting tours with guests through the rehabilitation center; maintaining and cleaning of the areas of the animal shelter; monitoring animals' health and diet; and other maintenance work. Volunteers may also assist in developing and improving the Eco-Tourism program. This means gardening and raking, maintaining and cleaning of the trails of the forest and the water ducts, and making wooden signs for the natural trails, etc.

Typical Volunteer: International volunteer travel is often filled with unpredictable surprises, such as transportation delays, local holidays, etc. Cultures may vary greatly and you might feel outside of your comfort zone in some situations. People, including the local population and fellow Quest participants, might have different religious, ideological, racial, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds.

United Planet volunteers are offered pre-departure training and materials, which include cultural adjustment tools and other tips to help you adjust to your new surroundings.
