The Microfinance/Micro credit project officer is required to provide technical support to the BERUDEP microfinancing project staff, review and develop a book keeping and good accounting system and also be able to raise funds for the project's activities The ideal volunteer will have either have an educational background in microfinance or professional working experience. Volunteers must have a strong interest in working with poor urban unemployed youth, drop out from school commitment to teaching good accounting and basic book keeping skills that will enable them to be economically independent. You will need to be flexible and tolerant, show initiative and enthusiasm to face the many hurdles and challenges that you will encounter. You will have to be able to cope with basic living and working conditions. In order to maintain the sustainability and high performance of this project all volunteers are required to complete a detailed hand-over document for successive volunteers. The group of young people we are working with are very poor students who due to poverty can no longer continue their education and are thus forced to live very wretched lives.

Teach English Project Assisting Classroom: As a volunteer you will work as a teaching assistant in the classroom, or with art and creativity programs which keep children off the streets. You will find that most of the schools have meager and ill-equipped facilities, but a wealth of children with a desire to learn. Sanitation and Community Service: Volunteers will help in teaching hygiene classes to rural women and in elementary [primary] schools. Location: Rural Belo For more information about living in Belo please contact us. Project Duration: Min 1 month and Maximum of 6 month. Longer stays are negotiable. Project Fee: No fees are charged but volunteers will pay their living cost; 200 USD = Includes food, accommodation, water, internet. Volunteer Support: Throughout your stay in Cameroon you will have the support and guidance of our experienced BERUDEP volunteer coordinators. They will provide you with competent 24-hour field support and assistance. Volunteer Orientation: Before your arrival at the project you will receive further information relating to your trip, as well as hints on cultural aspects to be aware of and final pre-departure information. Upon your arrival in the Belo area you will be briefed more extensively by our project manager , with reference to a basic understanding of local cultures; specifics of your project and its daily life, etc.

Belo Rural Development Project's Mission Statement: BERUDEP work towards poverty alleviation of the rural population through education, health, income generating activities, and support of the disabled. BERUDEP teaches the rural population to be independent and to learn skills and methods of production which lead to self sustainability. Teaching others to help themselves.
