Volunteering in an Organic Farm in Italy
Italy
Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: from March to November
Description:
Our Project: Farmhouse located between Rome and Naples (for more information about the location please contact us) in the Abruzzi National Park, the oldest National Park in Italy and one of the most beautiful and important for fauna and flora in the whole of Europe - unique, native, endangered species such as marsicam bear and golden eagle just to mention two. We grow our own produce for our own consumption. We also produce olive oil and wine. We have rabbits, sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, bees and a beautiful donkey (she is the mascot of the farm, everybody gets to love her). We also grow a great variety of fruit and vegetables that play a big role in our diet. Not long ago, we started a farmstay - we have 6 rooms and we can only host a small group of people per time. The guests are from all over the world, we always have many visitors, volunteers and pilgrims that stop by our farm. This is sustainable tourism, that aims to have a positive impact on our community. We also want to give the chance to our guests to develop an awareness and a critical approach of where the food that they eat comes from. We also offer a wide variety of activities that gives them the chance to reach mental and physical wellness. The work of the volunteers is related to the farmstay and the farm and it varies a lot from season to season and from day to day. Volunteers work in the morning and in the afternoon they are never required to work (during that time they usually explore the area or they spend time with the guests or they participate in the activities when it is possible) and then they help with the dinner and lunch. You will get accommodation and three meals per day ( the food is organic from our farm). When they take place and it is possible, you can participate in some of the activities such as mountain hikes, yoga and visit to the cheese making shepherd completely free. This experience is particularly good for people who are willing to learn Italian and imerse in our culture we are happy to help you. We speak Italian, English, Spanish and a bit of French. We have been hosting people since 2001 and it has been great so far. Non Smoker Prefered, No Abuse of Alcohol Permitted! We are looking for people who have a passion for nature, an interest in sustainable tourism. People who are very independent, mature, responsible and physically fit since we also do physical work. Please, when you contact us, WRITE ABOUT YOURSELF! Your age, what you studied, tell us if you have had past experiences, and your skills (it is not necessary to have skills or previous experience to be a helper in Italy Farm Stay but if you have some, let us know). When you would like to come and how long you would like to stay. Tell u your interests, hobbies and if you practise any sport, best travel experience and why, how long you would prefer to stay on our farm and your expectations for this experience and whatever else you want. Volunteers must get to the farm before 7:00 p.m.! Our Philosophy: Difficult to summarize in few words! Let's try though: Nature which is our mother we love, therefore we respect. Cultural diversity, good food, good physical exercise, good wine and good conversation EVERYDAY! When you contact us we will send you information about our project: kind of accommodation, type of work, etc. do not hesitate to ask us questions. If you are interested in coming as a guests for few days and are on a tight budget, you can camp for EUR 10 per person per night.
