Dates: All Year Round
Description:
An elderly home in Chiang Mai is providing care, attention, and shelter to more than 100 helpless and needy senior citizens who are above the age of 60. These elderly people need help and often have various needs, necessitating constant care which involves both mental and physical support from others. This home severely needs more helping hands to keep a constant eye on these needy people. If you have a love and compassion for the old and want to make a meaningful contribution by making their life worth living, then this project needs the helping hands of volunteers like you.
Highlights:
Volunteers working in the elderly home will take care of old people. Participants will also help in the kitchen (preparing, cooking, and serving) where there will also be opportunities to entertain the elderly people by singing, creating fun games, etc. If volunteers possess the necessary skills, they can administer physiotherapy to the needy elderly men and women. Volunteers are also expected to assist in various administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
Prior experience/knowledge about nursing/care of elderly people will be an advantage. However, volunteers without such experiences are also welcomed as the elderly home's staff will provide basic training (1-2 days) on physiotherapy to all volunteers prior to starting the work.

Institute For Field Research Expeditions's Mission Statement: The mission of our volunteer abroad program is to offer meaningful volunteer abroad opportunities for volunteers and to seek sustainable solutions for education, health, conservation, and development issues through international volunteering. We hope to achieve this goal by offering community orientated volunteer programs where the efforts of our volunteers go directly to the poor people and their communities.
Many grass-root organizations working in developing countries are poor in resources. These organizations are doing a commendable job to address development, education, health, and conservation issues by launching a variety of programs but these organizations are in a great need of help and support. IFRE promotes these local organizations by making donations and sending volunteers.
