Local NGO Project in Cambodia

  Cambodia
    Phnom Penh

Durations of Program: 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Dates: All Year Round

Description: Being one of the poorest countries in world, Cambodians continue to overcome their country's shattered past due to the Khmer Rouge government. Cambodian citizens have organized many NGOs in the last ten years to support and encourage progress. These established organizations focus on improving the living conditions of the citizens at the grassroots level by creating development programs. Participants involved in our NGO projects in Cambodia will be assisting communities in every way possible. Based on your skills and brainstorming efforts, you will aid the NGOs in profitable fundraisers by writing reports and proposals. We invite volunteers from all backgrounds in lending their hands and ideas to better the communities of Cambodia

Local NGO Project in Cambodia

Highlights: IFRE assists numerous local NGOs in different areas, including: teaching, democracy, sustainable development and human rights. Therefore, the nature of your duties varies with the type of projects. IFRE customizes the project based on the experience and interest of the volunteers. Those with skills in development work can help by writing reports and proposals for fundraisers. Volunteers can also help by creating profitable activities for the poor and develop a program to help establish some form of stability/sustainability for the communities. Volunteers possessing skills in land-planning/distribution can offer their assistance in establishing land and fishery communities in the Pursat province. Volunteers participating in these projects must stay for a minimum of 4 weeks. At the beginning of the program (upon arrival), participants are provided an overview of the NGOs and the activities they offer as well as their goals. Also at this point, volunteers will receive all pertinent information needed to begin this project's associated activities.

Institute For Field Research Expeditions's Mission Statement: The mission of our volunteer abroad program is to offer meaningful volunteer abroad opportunities for volunteers and to seek sustainable solutions for education, health, conservation, and development issues through international volunteering. We hope to achieve this goal by offering community orientated volunteer programs where the efforts of our volunteers go directly to the poor people and their communities. Many grass-root organizations working in developing countries are poor in resources. These organizations are doing a commendable job to address development, education, health, and conservation issues by launching a variety of programs but these organizations are in a great need of help and support. IFRE promotes these local organizations by making donations and sending volunteers.
