Description:
The English language is crucial to assisting these children in acquiring a job where English is either a necessity or a significant skill. With the tourism industry booming in El Salvador, the English language is becoming more and more of a vital attribute as the majority of tourist visiting originate from the United States and Europe. In El Salvador 's volunteer English-Teaching Projects, volunteers can choose to teach in either public schools, community centers of infantile development, or in marginalized rural communities. Volunteers may also choose to teach English to disadvantaged children who work in markets and/or dump sites where they collect items to recycle or sell to garner some sort of wages with which to eat.
Highlights:
Preparing lesson plans consisting of subject matter which interests the children is crucial to these projects. Other activities within this project include: preparing teaching materials to aide in the learning of the children, assisting the already-existing teachers (flash cards, etc.), planning games, cultural activities, recreational activities, sports, as well as arts and crafts and other creativity-based extracurricular activities.
